I suspect many flags come from client change deniers; both paid shills and folks influenced by said shills.

From the HN guidelines [1]:

" Please don't post insinuations about astroturfing, shilling, brigading, foreign agents and the like. It degrades discussion and is usually mistaken. If you're worried about abuse, email hn@ycombinator.com and we'll look at the data."

Also, the article is currently on the front page, so the discussion about it being buried by flags is moot.

Where can I sign up to be a paid shill? Moreover, is HN considered a large enough community for people to _pay_ to shill on topics unrelated to tech/startups?
I don’t think you get paid to shill. The real money is in convincing others to volunteer to shill on your behalf.
