Most people have a super hard time socializing in arbitrary locations. That's why places where people freely socialize sell massive amounts of alcohol, alcohol reduces inhibitions and I imagine the stress level of interacting with someone for the first time. Most life partners come from (frequently forced) proximity, same for best friends: kindergarten, school, university, workplace, etc. Pontificating about what people should do doesn't help with what people have actually been doing for hundreds of thousands of years. |
