I dislike that this is downvoted. I think it's a meaningful question. If I could spend a 1% of my net worth to ensure my closest friends and family never had to work again, and that 1% had no meaningful difference in my own quality of life, I would absolutely do that. I would treat myself plenty if I had lots of money, but most of it I would spend on those close to me. I don't really see the point of most of it otherwise. I think it says something about someone's character if they sacrifice very little of their own to make a big difference for those around them. it doesn't necessarily mean that if they don't that they're a bad person, but it is something to consider why they wouldn't. |
