I really dislike the new font. Part of the problem is the spacing between characters.

Yes! The inconsistent character spacing and the width of the downstrokes seem to be at least parts of the problem.

I like it on desktop, not so much on iOS. The spacing is more of an issue for me on mobile.

I agree, that's what bothering me too. It looks like an unfinished font.
