NYC is exceptional. Manhattan is dense enough you can hail a cab on demand. The same can not be said for the rest of the country. Uber may never be competitive in Manhattan but they don't need to. In much of the country, a ten minute drive would take over an hour on public transit if you take infrequent headways into account. And that is when it is possible to take public transit. |
