We once had a friend staying over for the weekend with her 3-5 year old daughter. My girlfriend took my DSLR camera and they took hundreds of photos. I casually imported everything from the SD card to my Apple Photos library without even looking at it. Few weeks later I was browsing Photos on my iPhone and saw a bunch of photos of my friends in bath washing the little girl. Almost had a heart attack. Deleted everything, cleared cache, disabled auto sync, formatted the SD card many times over. Screamed at my friends and they just laughed at me.

But being wrongfully accused of child abuse is probably my biggest fear as a grown man. Especially after watching The Hunt (2012) with Mads Mikkelsen. If I were ever to find a child in distress somewhere in public I would never ever try to help it in case someone caught me alone with a kid I don't know. If I see kids walking on the street I immediately change direction just to not look like I follow their path. I just can't.

No he's not paranoid but just reasonably cautious. Stranger danger propaganda made damn sure that all men alone are considered sexual predators first, human second. And it just needs one self-important karen screaming pedophile in the streets to potentially ruin your life. Why would you risk that to help a child that's not your responsibility?
