Headline is misleading, it would be better to say 'why Delta is so much more transmissable' According to the UK govt's own figures, the 28 day case fatility rate is 2.0% for the Alpha variant, and 0.3% for the Delta variant. OK it may be that hospital treatment and vaccination (of the vulnerable) have greatly improved the CFR, but as of now mortality risk of the Delta variant is rather more modest compared to some earlier variants. |
