I think that the dream was that you were going to see $50k new aircraft due to the easier regulation, but it didn't pan out, and new LSAs are more like $150k. When you can get a used 172 for the same money and have a far more capable aircraft, that's the direction most people end up going. I could see some resurgence in the market with the large number of late-70s light aircraft starting to become unmaintainable though. It's hard to say with the opposing force of the shrinking pilot population though. |
