There is a tool to transfer your mapillary material to KartaView: https://osm.svimik.com/photosync/

Unfortunately I've been getting a 401 for weeks now. No idea if it's me or if it's broken

Unfortunately I don't think the creator open sourced the tool, so either someone needs to re-create or we have to wait.

My guess is this has something to do with the Mapillary API updates. Whilst v3 is still active (shutdown is mid-Aug), all my OAuth applications we're nuked by Mapillary last month which caused me a similar (authentication) issue.

Interesting, but the only photos in my area were askew, like the camera fell off it's mount, almost upside down as the car went down the highway.

How would one flag and correct that?

Is the as api really free or are there free tier usage limits/non free licence restrictions on the api which aren't compatible with the image license? (Asking as I've seen this elsewhere...)

It used to be. However, seems they have now restricted the ability to generate keys to authenticate.
