I agree - I'd also be opposed. I understand why it frustrates people (especially in the cases such as iDOS 2), but it was a known factor for me buying an Apple phone. More importantly, it was an aspect of the ecosystem that I _wanted_. On Android the Play Store is a major distributor of malware [1]. I would like to avoid that, which comes with trade-offs, which I accept. Is it perfect? No. But it works. I do wonder if there is a path where iOS can be completely replaced by a third party OS, so iPhones can be used in a way to allow you to install anything you want, but it is no longer Apple's 'responsibility'.
