+56% vs the S&P's +36%. This does not look "suspicious", from a purely statistical point of view.

Especially considering this is a multiple testing issue. When checking a lot of politicians there is likely going to be someone who is doing really well, even if it's just by chance.

As a single data point I agree, I wonder if there is a long term view. Especially something that tracks before office, during office, after office.
