I've hired junior developers, and senior PMs, but never senior developers, so take my recommendations with a grain of salt. I would definitely continue to include side projects on your CV, especially if: 1. they are technologies you are unfamiliar with. It's an easy and effective way to demonstrate that you are eager to learn new things. 2. they are emerging technologies (crypto, VR, AI, etc). In most organizations being a senior engineer who doesn't get "stuck" or complacent is a plus. I'm not sure why employers would not be looking at those things, they definitely should be, it's a treasure trove of information as to who you are and how you think. |
