I totally agree. I worked at a robotics company about a decade ago, and I was familiar with the people at Willow garage. Robotics research is going to be extremely binary. It's expensive and frustrating, and there's little use for it until it works as well as human labor, which is a high bar. But, once that Rubicon is crossed, I believe there will be a sort of singularity in that space. It's related to but somewhat orthogonal to the singularity that's prognosticated for g a i. |
