Technical people, in particular, are often working on improving system throughput over the long term. It can take a lot of discipline for an organization to stay focused on these goals, and unfortunately it can mean short term pain for individuals. The other extreme is a staff that is very, very busy and yet can’t keep up with even routine upgrades and maintenance. (This is the classic “urgent versus important” problem.) |
