I get where you're coming from, and I've been there, but this is a truly sad way to live.

If you can't find something that you care about to work on, why do it? Isn't it worth everything to do something that you're proud of with your life?

You can be proud of the accoutrements it takes to do your job without caring about the end product, especially if it's an environment you have little influence in the direction of the product.

It's not mutually exclusive.

Do you think tax attorneys are proud of tax laws, or do you think they care about being the best tax attorney in their field? This mind set isn't exclusive to certain industries.
