While this is a valid sanity saving technique, you have to be very judicious with it. Too often people get more excited by the tech they’re using than the problem domain, and their solutions start to fit that domain badly. Then we have impedance mismatches, and someone who is effectively holding the code hostage because that is where all of their emotional investment is. I’ve seen this many times, participated a couple. In the end there’s a moment you should move on to something more interesting. And like selling your house, you should never look back at what they did to your code. |
