"""Then commenters posit that "if non-ionizing radiation isn't strong enough to cause genetic perturbations, it can't be responsible for sources of cancer".""" The commenters are factually wrong. This is based on a assumption made by physicists about biology which is completely unsupported. It happened back when people claimed living near power lines caused cancer (they don't- people who live near power lines tend to be poorer and have worse health outcomes) and the physicists "proved" it was impossible. Unfortunately for the physicists, they didn't actually understand medical biology and now research indicates there are other mechanisms which lead to cancer that don't require ionizing radiation. |
