That influence rhetoric is so pervasive despite the transparent dishonesty that is an elephant in the room. So when are we going to shutdown the BBC and stop best selling authors from writing because they have "too much" influnce? Sorry Steven Spielberg - you had too much influence on film already so it is retirement for you! That would be considered unthinkable and horribly dystopian. Yet it is okay if standard special pleadings #1 and #7 are applied (in this case "But it is people I don't like so it is okay!" and "It is new and scary so it is okay!"). |
