Ask HN: Can Radiology Be Democratised?

Are there startups working to make medical imaging more accessible: by using inbuilt cameras, webcams or more sophisticated cameras hooked up to commodity computers? There are vision acuity testing sites, but any that are going beyond? I have acquired imaging and computer vision experience by working on various domains and am looking to apply the same to this area now. Any startups doing exciting work?

Radiology can be dangerous for the patient, the operator and nearby people if misused. I'd like the idea of cheaper equipment for hospitals, but I'd be very worry that any moron can have a x-ray machine at home.
