The "James demore event" was a guy arguing that some of his coworkers were less-than-qualified because they were women.

This is wrong and actual misogyny, and does not get a pass because he framed it as a debate.

That does not match my recollection. Did you read his memo or just second hand reports of it?

I read it and it didn't say this. It said that on average, data sows women in society have different aptitudes and interest in than men, so it is unreasonable to expect equal representation in swe at google.
I have almost never seen so many people so motivated to misrepresent a memo.
