I'm intrigued why it is so difficult to add a 4 digit passcode to a device that regularly receives software updates. It seems that bricking the device was an easier fix than a bit of coding. One of the benefits of IOT is the ability to provide regular updates & "improvements", however the first benefit of IOT is to earn as much money as possible for the suppliers and that typically steers product decisions. |

It probably is not, but that was a great excuse to make users pay for non-trivial features instead of just advanced.
