These are software engineers, average base is $183K (https://www.levels.fyi/company/Stripe/salaries/Software-Engi...), so you agree to $18.3K reduction, get a 20K bonus and save (183-50) * .09 = 12K? in taxes.

Average rent in SF is $4K? vs Austin is $2K? ... seems you'd come out ahead by ~24K + 12K - 18.3K = $17.7K / year.

Plus ~$6k in federal income tax on the $18.3k at a marginal tax rate of 32%. And maybe state taxes on equity comp too, not sure if or how that would be taxed in CA.
