As someone who recently moved from SF to Breckenridge, CO, I can say nature definitely has a pretty big effect on my mental state. I wouldn't compare it to psychedelics. I think that's a dumb take that is targeted for clicks. Being in nature has little to do with the intense introspection from psychedelics. There are other metal changes I get from living in nature. I've actually become less ambitious and content with my life. Living in SF was a grind and I think part of the ambition that is in cities come from wanting to improve you living situation. When I'm living in a small town with beautiful nature I have less of a desire to work hard to improve my life because my life already is pretty good. I think more clearly because I'm more physically active and don't drink as much. I don't think I'm any more creative maybe I should microdose more... |

This is really interesting, and something I myself experienced (in reverse) of going from small-town living to a world city with a thriving tech ecosystem.
Now I'm contemplating moving back out into small-town life (I'm sure many city dwellers are thinking along the same lines after being locked inside for a year). I'm concerned that I'll lose my drive and ambition and settle for less in life.
Health and wellness matter more than any achievement or accolade at the end of the day.
