I find that ownership of one's work is a gigantic motivator for me, though not necessarily for others. I moved from a consulting job to academic research and am significantly more fulfilled doing research projects rather than being a small piece of a greater machine at a corporation. There is nothing I love more than finding the seed of an idea and spending a whole day getting it started. |
