Maybe I'm reading too much into this - but I found it significant that the beta is starting as Windows only. This was obviously the norm in the 90s and 2000s. Then the Mac started gaining mindshare after OS X with the dev community.

Today, I just assume a beta launch will work on a Mac.

In the last few years, it seems Microsoft has done a great job with features like WSL on Windows.

So is this a sign that Windows is regaining mindshare?

Perhaps the developer of this project does not have much experience outside of Windows?
