Ask HN: How much time per week for a part-time PhD in AI?

Info about me:

- 44 year old, wife and a 3 years old - Wife is pregnant with our second child (probably bad news for doing a phd) - My background is mainly Networking (Juniper/Cisco..etc) - I work full time, but job is not stressful and does pay well - No backgroung in programming, although I started learning react recently

I need advice on two things:

- How hard will the PHD be with no background in programming. I think I can pick up the algos/data structure and I was good at math.

- How much time per week will I need?

I'm aiming for a part-time phd which will be over the course of 6 years to complete.

Forgot to say I do have a telco engineering degree but this was 15 years ago.
