Same for Austria: It is called "Bürgerkarte" and is a requirement for some government services, e.g. accessing health records and medication online, electronic signing of petitions,...)
Currently there is a mobile app and the possibity to use the smart card with a reader. [1]
According to [2] the Austria eID is already valid EU-wide.
