Is being housebroken a bad thing? I don't want to live in my own filth.

The alternative to being housebroken is not to live in your own filth, it is to live in freedom without fetters and chains. To take the dog comparison a bit further, the alternative to that housebroken dog is a free wolf.

Except that wolves are pack animals who work for the good of their pack, which isn't freedom. Solitary wolves exist but it's because they're trying to create their own pack.

Nope, they are pack animals which work for their own good in a strictly hierarchical pack, always trying to find opportunities to rise in status. Seen in human terms wolves are conservatives, not liberals or libertarians.
