It's poetic and philosophical, but it's good to steelman such idealizations of struggle. Was it worth it to achieve these feelings for McAfee? I've been in a third-world jail for one night for a victimless crime, facing five years in prison, and my feelings were very different. More than anything was the feeling of the banality of time when you physically can't move more than handfuls of inches. |
