I don't know if this qualifies. We have our standard model, general relativity, etc. But they don't align precisely with observations. If we threw our understanding of physics to aliens who had much better models that don't look anything like the math we use to approximate the universe it wouldn't make sense. I would hope they have more math with better correspondence. Maybe an alien child might recognize Newton's laws from a children's tale.
