Suspect at this point Apple doesn’t want to break compatibility with their Lightning ecosystem when wireless charging is probably going to be the future on iPhones. The most recent non-pro iPad does have USB-C and I expect whenever they get around to redesigning the lowest cost iPads they’ll also move to USB-C. |
