Maybe not quite the right specific area here, but IMO the next "big thing" will probably be AI-generated code of some form. This will let organizations employ fewer developers and instead license AI services (e.g. GPT-3) to have it generate code for some app, then have maybe 1/10th the developer overhead they otherwise would go over that generated code and tweak it as necessary to make the end result better and compensate for the shortcomings of AI at present, with the eventual goal being to replace the developer all together with AI-generated apps.

Then, hosting those apps in some form will likely need to adopt AI-centric workflows in some way. We might even see AI-driven request routing and AI-driven WAF features at some point, too.
