It’s popular with UK emergency services, and is starting to catch on slowly with the general public over here. In an emergency situation, when every second counts, 3 words are much easier to convey than 15 numbers.

Besides this, I have no idea what else it’s good for. It’s an odd business model, and I’m surprised it’s got this far.
