You can always choose to not use a phone or the internet? The difference is that life becomes hard when you wanna opt out of a mainstream technology that we fully do not understand.
Indeed if you want to make a living opting out of certain technologies is impossible despite their invasive effects. Imagine competing with a programmer than can solve leetcode / code an entire system in a few seconds using such a brain interface. It would be somewhat difficult to attain that kind of productivity with old I/O devices
This might be true but if something is possible, made acceptable by the majority (even if it’s detrimental to them in the long term), and is capitalizable for commercial gain I doubt you or anyone can stop it from happening. Technology will progress to places wherever it can, the only way to at least slow it is to make it illegal.
