Trains have improved dramatically, but Americans haven't been paying attention and haven't changed anything about them in 100 years (in fact, they reverted by removing formerly electrified lines). Trains are a proven technology- highly energy-efficient and more pleasant to ride than a car or a bus.

Yes, a good train system is better than cars or busses, I agree. But SkyTran is better in nearly every way than trains. Higher capacity, lower cost, faster speeds, easier to clean, lower energy use. Trains are outdated. We need something better.
