They seem to assume Safari is the only OS X browser that can play HTTP live streaming on a Mac.. I'm pretty sure Chrome can (via Quick Time?), and I know for sure that VLC can. Can't think of a way of feature detecting HTTP live streaming though, so even if user agent sniffing is bad, I guess it's better to show that useful error than having IE and others display a blank area with no error messages. |
