It seems incomplete to not acknowledge that codes of conduct are a response to a different kind of censorship, where some voices dominate the conversation and drive users away. Codes of conduct aren't the only possible solution to that. But the problem is real, and visible in the skewed demographics. If you don't observe that you can't deal with it or find a solution. If what they want is to have only those users in the room who like that kind of sharp-elbowed behavior, that's their choice. But it is a choice, and things flow from that choice. |
