you are right, a Gell-Mann amnesia effect is possible. But I think I'm as ignorant about agricultural issues as I am about athletics, it's just that if you look at, say, What the Health[0] or Cowspiracy[1] you immediately get a feeling the crew started with a thesis and then looked for reasons to sustain it, but didn't bother at all with different views.
