I don't think there's anything controversial in stating that on average women still do most of the work around the house, including with children, and earn less for their actual work hence easily becoming financially dependent on a partner. I read somewhere that when women started working more the average cost of life rose so the double income doesn't cover more than one did before, basically causing mothers to become more dependant on a partner than previously. This was in the US. |
