Work as a contractor. Go to dice.com and upload your resume. I have never felt more solidarity with the workers. We fuck around all day, smoke breaks, ping pong, etc. It’s a solid 90k/year minimum. Yes it’s temp, doesn’t have long term potential, but if you’re a US citizen they don’t have the same control over you. If you get fired, there’s a million more contract roles. These contracting companies are often exploiting legal realities where hiring US citizens lets them get more visas. There is even the concept of “sitting on the bench” while they try to place you in a company. My friends have literally “sat on the bench” (ie, stay at home, do nothing, and get full pay) for 6-12 consecutive months.
