I was just explaining to my father what it is couple of hours ago. :-) Why .. because I was telling him a story about my nephew, who bought a MacBook Air and needed a thunderbolt hub to connect his old printer and a mouse to the computer. It did not work, due to - as it turned out after investigation - EM interference, so I advised him to wrap the hub into a tinfoil. That fixed things. However, later I talked to him and it turns out he threw the hub out, because "it stopped working." I asked what did he do, to which he replied that because the aluminum foil was dirty, he replaced it with plastic wrap ... Apparently my nephew is lacking a mental model of the problem (and therefore of the solution), so it reminded me of the cargo cult :-) |
