Nokia Bell Labs Transfers Plan9 to the Plan9 Foundation

Nokia Bell Labs has transferred all of Plan9 to the newly formed non-profit Plan9 Foundation.

This includes previously unreleased (or very limited) source code for 1st and 2nd Editions. The foundation then quickly released all Editions 1 through 4 under the MIT open source license.

9front, a very cool fork of Plan9, has followed suit and all of their code is being released under the MIT open source license.

2021 is going to be an exciting year for Plan9! SDF.ORG is hosting a Plan9 BootCamp which uses the 9front (and some Xen) code base for Spring 2021 beginning April 4th through June.
