Maybe now it's finally time for Discord to update their auto-updater. Last I checked, you still have to enable TLS 1.1 to get updates. https://twitter.com/discord/status/958508910536790016

In a similar vein, 2021 is the first time that I've been able to update TurboTax without having to resort to re-enabling TLS 1.0 and 1.1

According to [1] 68% of websites still support TLS 1.0 as of 2019. Unfortunately, the pace of deprecation is slow.

There is a difference between "supporting old TLS" and "requiring old TLS". Neither are great, but one is terrible.
