No different from city light pollution preventing optical telescopes being near cities. Or radio pollution causing constraints for radio-astronomy. My guess is that cheap reliable worldwide internet connectivity will help science overall by far more than the costs of modifying terrestrial optical observations to mitigate the extra satellites. |
