This interestingly made me think, I wonder if there is the opposite of this. Capture those signals to a capture card to avoid HDCP or the likes. I realize there are HDCP splitter/strippers but maybe one day those don't work, who knows.

Though it only operates at 1080p, I'm not sure whether it can accept more and then downscales the output, or what.

The existence of this possibility, by the way, is why there's some push in the movie industry to encrypt the scaler-to-panel connection. (eyeroll...)

An FPGA dev board with enough LVDS inputs might work but I've also heard that the levels that LCDs use are not quite the same LVDS spec.
