A single developer who put in 7000 hours before he made a cent. It was a hobby project he was passionate about. He thankfully now makes a comfortable living from it. I think this is less uncommon for bootstrapped companies than a lot of people assume. E.g. Patrick Campbell from ProfitWell has a similar story.
