This seems like some race bait to me. As you may have guessed, the article says that overconfidence leads managers to see leadership potential and allow reports to "fail up", and of course this is a problem primarily caused by evil white men. Because as we all know, every white man is overconfident, and nobody from any other race or sex is nearly as bad.

Yeah, I wanted to say the same, somewhere in the middle it pivots to "white male has privileges". As a non-white male myself, it makes me wonder how accurate this article is, or if the author just took that particular lens to look at it.

If we look at European politics, there are those who have fallen up who are female and/or non-white, like Ursula van der Leyen, although arguably she benefitted from Merkel's backing.
