Ask HN: How to build QuickStart guides, to-do lists for new users

Hello everyone! Does anybody know how I could add a simple QuickStart guide for new users on my platform (https://linkwall.me)? A simple to-do list with guided actions should be enough.

I recently investigated this feature for merico.build. I found that it's controversial. The counter argument is that you have to get the UX right without it.

The middle ground I have chosen is to rejigger the UX to optimize the first minute or so. The user will start with demo data preinstalled. The top of the first page they see will be optimized for the first run.

Thanks for your answer. Do you use any external libraries? Are there any options?

I did, but that library is now too out of date to use. Go hunt around on NPM and you'll find something good.

But, again, try to avoid the need for a tour by covering everything important in the natural flow of onboarding.
