There is honestly not very much revolutionary about Bitcoin as a system in the real world, because it is so burdensome to use[1] that you cannot easily use it for facilitating financial transactions without trusting a middleman[2].

The result is that you must use centralized exchanges[3], and consume much more electricity than needed in the process.

The decentralized, cryptographically secure, append only ledger is pretty cool though.
