This is exactly the attitude I was talking about. You say "privilege": I spent hours every day practising to speak like news readers on TV. I don't talk like anyone else in my family. But everything comes down to not having an outward appereance as a person from a marginalised or minority group. Poverty is the great equaliser. When everyone assumes you are the in the "privileged" group it's hard to get help. |
